Hunter Moon Blog Tour!

Hey everyone, so if you haven't read Jeanette Battista's Moon series you are seriously missing out!  She has created an awesome paranormal world with multiple shifters and so much drama.  I think Hunter Moon may be tied with Jackal Moon as my favorite in her Moon Series because so much happens!  The plot of Hunter Moon was extremely well thought out, and included all of the characters we have met in previous books.  This book focused most on Kess, which is understandable since she was the prey being hunted.  I wish that we could have seen more a little more Laila in this book.  Laila in my opinion is the best character from this series.  She is kick ass, holds no bars, and doesn't take prisoners.  Granted we do see a little bit of her, it wasn't really fun Laila like we saw in Jackal, it was revenge mode Laila, and dang she's scary.

As I mentioned earlier the plot definitely moves at a fast pace and is del put together.  There isn't really a happily ever after in the book which is sad, but also very realistic.  Plus, Cormac comes back!  (Cue trumpets!)  I really do like the way Jeanette has set up her character relationships.  There is a realness, but also fantastical image to them, (uh the shifter part).

Overall, if you are looking for something fun and quick to read, I can highly recommend this series to you!  It is super fun, and there are different characters for everyone!  Hunter Moon is where they all kind go mesh together, but Jeanette writes it in such a way, that it's believable and not so overwhelming!  Pick it up and read it!  It's super fun!

4/5 Oh Yeah I liked it a lot!

Look an awesome character profile on one of the characters from Hyena and Hunter Moon: Rafe!

Rafael--Rafe--is the youngest child of Samara and James. His older sister Teresa was favored by their mother from the start, while Rafe was his father's favorite. Unfortunately, James left the family when Rafe was still young. He doesn't know why his father left, but suspects it has something to do with Samara's abusive nature. Once he was left alone, Rafe was pretty much bullied by his mother and sister on a daily basis. In the case of werehyenas, this is considered normal--females run the pack and are larger and stronger than males, and therefore are dominant in the social structure.

Rafe excelled in school. His favorite subjects were science and math--he liked that there were concrete rules and every problem was solvable. He spent much of his free time at school or at the library; anything to keep him out of his house and away from Samara and Teresa. When he wasn't there, he was skateboarding with the few friends he had. Once Samara scarred his face though, he stopped skateboarding and lost touch with his friends.

He became a loner, sure of his worthlessness. He found solace in reading and drawing. His favorite book was Something Wicked This Way Comes and he devoured everything Ray Bradbury wrote. Rafe tried his hand with writing and drawing his own comic books, but didn't think they were very good. He still has them and sometimes thinks about showing them to Lenore, but he's not ready yet.

He'd never had a girlfriend until Lenore. Rafe had always been shy and clumsy around girls, unsure of himself thanks to his mother and his sister. He feels like Lenore is the greatest gift he's ever received. And he can't believe that he was lucky enough to meet her--he feels like he owes Kess a huge debt for putting him in Lenore's way.

He's got a huge amount of respect for Kess and feels like she's the big sister he's always wanted--but he'd never tell her so. He doesn't want to creep her out. At the same time, Finn is the older brother he never really wanted, but now has to tolerate, especially when he fills Rafe's shoes with pudding. He actually likes Finn a lot and kind of hopes he can be more like him. Finn, as usual, is oblivious.

Rafe is still terrified of Laila. As he should be.

About Jeanette:
Jeanette Battista graduated with an English degree with a concentration in medieval literature which explains her possibly unhealthy fixation on edged weapons and cathedral architecture. She spent a summer in England and Scotland studying the historical King Arthur, which did nothing to curb her obsession. To satisfy her adrenaline cravings—since sword fighting is not widely accepted in these modern times—she rode a motorcycle at ridiculously high speeds, got some tattoos, and took kickboxing and boxing classes. She gave up the bike when her daughter came along, although she still gets pummeled at the gym on a regular basis.

When she’s not writing or working, Jeanette spends time with family, hikes, reads, makes decadent brownies, buys killer boots, and plays Pocket Frogs. She wishes there were more hours in the day so she could actually do more of these things. She lives with her daughter and their ancient, ill-tempered cat in North Carolina.

Here Review Part Deux

Sorry I haven't been super active lately.  I have been swamped with school and narrowly avoiding the dreaded plague that has been circulating, (load up on the vitamins and wash your hands people) so I haven't been reading or blogging much at all.

With that said, Ella James was supposed to be hanging out on the blog earlier this week with her new book Trapped in the Here trilogy.  But, some crazy and not fun stuff has been happening in Ella's life lately so I'm going to repost and smooth out my review of book one Here, well right here.

"Milo Mitchell's life used to be charmed, but that was before her family dissolved, she went a little crazy, and her best friends started acting more like strangers. Spending Saturday morning in a treehouse with a stun gun for company and a herd of deer for friends is the only exciting thing in her life...until she shoots a fawn and finds her dart stuck in a guy.

Her gorgeous victim is dressed in a Brioni tux and armed with a hanky. He has no idea who or where he is. Afraid her dart caused his amnesia, Milo takes him in, names him Nick, and vows to help him solve his mystery. Soon the pair find Nick's face in a newspaper obituary, and Nick begins to have strange, ethereal memories of Milo--who is sure she's never met him. Suddenly Nick knows things he shouldn't know and is doing things he shouldn't do. When the Department of Defense shows up, Nick and Milo run--toward a shocking conclusion that could destroy both their worlds."

Sounds awesome right?  That's because it is.  I love the whole aura of mystery throughout most of the book because it is this totally buildup to the big reveal, and then it is BAM tons of action!  I count myself as really lucky onto stumbling upon Ella's books when I first started blogging.  She has been super cool to get to know, and writes kick butt stories, and I think the "Here" trilogy is going to go down as one of my favorite series of all time.

The first reason why is because of Milo.  She was unique, normal, and while she carries around sorrow, she doesn't let it own her.  She is a strong character, and I LOVE that.  Plus she has friends, I feel like in a ton of paranormal books the female main character has to be this outsider that doesn't belong, and believe me I love a ton of those stories, I also happen to adore stories that break that pattern.   Even in the first few pages of the book I could see how strong and caring of a person Milo was.

Then we meet Nick.  Well, we meet passed out Nick because Milo went Rambo on him in the woods because she thought he was a fawn.  Weird, right?  Well it gets weirder.  Nick's got amnesia, Nick isn't really Nick's name, (hey I love those Gatsby throwbacks!) and Nick is supposed to be dead.  Really. Flippin. Weird.  But, this combination makes for a great storyline.

The plot is great, you think it's going one way, then hello something completely different and unexpected lands in front of you.  I must comment on the ending, whoooooa hello crazy plot twist!  I wish I could figure out how to put those crazy cartoons in my posts because my jaw was droppin' it real low.  I can't wait for Trapped to be here and to get to talk about it with you guys!! If you haven't picked up the any of Ella's books yet, please, please, please pick Here first.  It is so otherworldly good you will love it!

FOCUS

People.  Something AMAZING happened to me on Monday.  I got the ARC of Focus in my email.  Yes there were squeals, there also may have been a tweet to Alyssa Rose Ivy thanking her in all caps.  If you have read the first book in the Crescent Series Flight, you will undoubtably LOVE Focus.  All of our favorite characters are back and better than ever.  Ali is still wonderfully down to earth and still trying to resist Levi's charms.  Levi is still completely swoon worthy and ever protective.  Jared I came to LOVE in this book, and boy do we get LOTS of drama going down in Focus.

IF YOU HAVE NOT READ FLIGHT STOP AND READ THE REVIEW HERE

I am going to keep this review spoiler free because Focus doesn't release until January 31st, but I am warning you guys right now... clear your schedules because you will not be leaving your reading device once you start.

We open with Allie and Hailey starting their lives at Tulane, and that includes everything that comes with college life, (PARTIES!) much to Levi's dismay.  Allie is still holding strong to her freezing out Levi after what he did in Flight, and I can't help but feel for the guy.  Sure he acts like a domineering ass, but he is still wonderfully sweet Levi.  Allie and Levi's relationship definitely makes serious strides in this book.  There is a ton of trust building happening, and I thought it was done fantastically.

Some new characters are introduced in Focus and I can say with great authority you will love one, and hate the other.  That's all I am giving you right now.  If you want to discuss with me after you've read, tweet or comment me, and we will get down.

The story picks up and keeps on running.  There aren't any lulls in the drama and action, and this translates into a well thought out and intricate plot.  We get to know more about the Pteron and shifter community, and some of the aspects are crazy.  Allie gives Levi a LOT of power, and I am coming to the conclusion that Allie is more than she thinks she is.

One thing I must say: Focus had me laughing out loud at parts.  I truly love the characters Alyssa has created in this story, and the quality of her characters translates into how they interact with and play off each other.  When I was reading scenes between Hailey and Allie I was dying at some of their dialog.  It made me reminisce of conversations I have had with my crazy friends at the beginning of college.  They are relatable, believable, and funny.

Ok, I will say this.  THE ENDING.  It's seriously a WTF moment.  No seriously, I had to read it twice because the first time I was like, "waaaaaaht?!?!?!"  All I can say about it right now is seriously, I need the next book now!!

Focus comes out January 31st and Alyssa is having a super fun party on Facebook, so if you are on the web that day stop by and celebrate the release of this awesome book!  You might even win a cool prize!!  More importantly go pick up the book when it comes out, you'll love it!

Incendiary Tour AKA Why Amy Bartol is Awesome!

People of the inter-webs, (well the cool ones who stop by this blog: aka you dear reader) if you do not know who Amy Bartol is, your life is a sad one my friend.  But, it's about to get injected with a WHOLE LOT of awesome!!  That's right, Amy is hanging out today on the blog and we are presenting you with an awesome character map for Zephyr (Zee King) from Amy's awesome premonition series.  Plus I will have a review and a raffle copter going for a signed copy of Incendiary that Amy is generously throwing in!

So first a little about Zee, oh and here's a swoon worthy picture from Amy's pinterest on what he looks like ;-)

ZEPHYR “ZEE” KING – when Evie first meets Zephyr in Inescapable, she recognizes him for what he is: a highly lethal, divine assassin angel.  He’s of the class called “Power.”  Power angels are the military division of angels that are assigned to annihilate fallen angels.  He is extremely intelligent, harrowingly strong, and exquisitely handsome.  Zee, like most Power angels, had limited emotions, but that changes when Evie enters his life.  Now he’s experiencing love and raw desire for Buns, a Reaper angel.  His life on Earth has been one of secrecy and isolation for centuries.  He’s forbidden to reveal himself as an angel to humans so when he saw Evie and found that she's half human and half angel he immediately tried to destroy her.  But now, he has joined Reed in attempting to protect Evie from the predators stalking her.

Physical attributes:  Appears to be approx. 20-years-old (but he’s ancient), 6’ 2”, brown hair with an “in the now” style, ice blue eyes, light brown avian wings that are retractable and can be completely hidden within him, chiseled face, flawless angelic skin, sleek muscles.
Zephyr’s Class of angel:  Divine Power angel – second tier of angel known as the military branch of angel or the “avenging angels.”  They’re ordered to annihilate the fallen angels on Earth and to restore order to the universe. They’re distinguished by their wing color that can be gray, brown, or green and resemble an avian.  Their military court on earth is called Dominion.  They cannot return to Paradise until they're called back.  Their symbol is the sword.
Supernatural abilities:
·      Immense physical strength - he can juggle minivans if he wanted. This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Run extremely fast - like the wind, he can move so fast he is just a blur to the human eye. This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Fly – he can fly by using his light brown wings. This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Acute hearing – This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Higher visual acuity – ability to assess everything in a highly expanded field of vision and categorize each item within a fraction of a second.  Can see vast distances and has night vision.  Able to detect several colors not in the human spectrum of vision, and allows the angel to see lingering “souls” who have not ascended (ghosts). This is a standard angelic trait.
·      Extremely lethal fighting skills – an assassin whose sole purpose now is killing fallen angels.  This is a Power angel trait.
·      Immortality – Zephyr will never die unless another being kills him.  If he is killed, he ‘ceases to be’ because angels do not have souls.
·      Heal from serious wounds – ability to heal and regenerate tissue, sinew and bone rapidly.  This is a standard angelic trait.

Mappin' it out!! *disclaimer: Amy and I were not really sure what a character map is.  Here is our best guess on this, so just go with it!*

Hopefully this map helped you out if you were at all lost in the world of angels and ganacaugh!

Review:  I have been way too invested into this series.  I picked this series up last year on a whim because it had really good reviews, and the cover of Inescapable (book 1) is super pretty.  Needless to say I became HOOKED.  Going into the story of Evie was like a breath of fresh air, and with each addition to the series, more and more of this complex story becomes presented to you.  I thought that Incendiary was CRAZY.  Literally parts, (hello Xavier) made my jaw drop.  I remember while reading it I was frantically tweeting Amy asking her what she was doing to me.  Reed and Evie have been through SO much, I just want them to have a HEA, but I don't see that happening for the for-seeable future.  Incendiary is chalk full of people from Evie's AND Russell's angel past and it is a freaking doozy.  A huge part of me (ok all of me) is extremely happy that Russell's angst is somewhat diminished in this book.  He's an awesome character, and deserves not to have his heart killed in every scene.  But, whoa, with the introduction of Xavier (who by the way sounds incredibly hot) I'm not sure where my loyalties lie.  I mean I love Reed, please don't think I am abandoning team Reed, but I am completely torn with Xavier coming into the picture.  Seriously this book is giving me anxiety about who I really love the most, (It's still Reed, don't worry Premonition Pals).

Ok, I must discuss the Evie's dad.  I think that Incendiary has been out for long enough that I am not going to be giving away a spoiler BUT IF YOU HAVE NOT READ INCENDIARY YOU ARE NOT SAFE FROM THIS POINT ON:

I REPEAT: SPOILER ZONE AHEAD:

Ok, now that that's out of the way.  I really, really don't like Tau. I didn't like him already with the whole "ditching" Evie when she was younger thing, but his reappearance has taken my loathing to a whole new level.  In fact, I don't trust that trio at all.  I want to love Xavier because I am all for the true love never dies thing, but the reappearance, and controlling of Evie is just super sketch to me.  Maybe I am crazy, maybe not.  I just really need the next book.

END OF SPOILER ZONE

Welp, I really must say that Incendiary was a ride chalk full of craziness.  Seriously, I was not expecting so many of the events in the book to happen, my jaw was to the floor at parts of this.  SUPER excited for Iniquity and to get more back story on this complicated group.  Seriously, Amy keeps peeling off layers and layers and I don't even know how many more layers we will see.  I LOVED Incendiary.  If you haven't read the Premonition series, this one you MUST read.  It's soooooooo good, and Amy Bartol is a superior story teller and all around awesome human being.  Seriously read the series!!

About Amy Bartol:
Author of Inescapable: The Premonition Series (Volume 1), Intuition: The Premonition Series (Volume 2), Indebted: The Premonition Series (Volume 3) , and Incendiary: The Premonition Series (Volume 4). Currently working on a fifth novel in the Premonition Series entitled Iniquity.

I live in Michigan with my husband and our two sons. My family is very supportive of my writing. When I’m writing, they often bring me the take-out menu so that I can call and order them dinner. They listen patiently when I talk about my characters like they’re real. They rarely roll their eyes when I tell them I’ll only be a second while I finish writing a chapter…and then they take off their coats. They ask me how the story is going when I surface after living for hours in a world of my own making. They have learned to accept my “writing uniform” consisting of a slightly unflattering pink fleece jacket, t-shirt, and black yoga pants. And they smile at my nerdy bookishness whenever I try to explain urban fantasy to them. In short, they get me, so they are perfect and I am blessed.
