Always Remember Blog Tour!

Always Remember is the final book in the final book in the memories series and I am sad that these characters' stories are finished.  While I really liked book one Never Forget, Always Remember is definitely my favorite book in the series.  Two stubborn as hell characters + snarky romance + a little heat = a really great book. 

Synopsis:

How long does it take for a long-distance relationship to break down? Sixteen months.
When Jen and Carl put their relationship to rest after Christmas, Jen’s biggest problem is going back to London ten days earlier than planned – and her ever-present attraction to Samuel ‘Bing’ Edwards.
Bing has no idea why Jen left Devon so fast. All he knows is that he wants her as much as he did the first day he laid eyes on her – so spending time with her while Lexy is still in Devon isn’t exactly a hardship for him. When he finds out she’s single, the only thing on his mind is finishing what they started at his dad’s fiftieth birthday party.

Review:  Always Remember was a really fun and really great read.  I loved Bing/Sam in book one and couldn't wait to see him knocked down a peg.  The cocky guy always needs to be brought back down to Earth ;).  Jen is a complete ball buster, but it was nice to get an in depth look at her, because as it is true for all humans who walk this planet, there is more than meets the eye.

I liked the build up to the romance in the book.  It is chalk full of character evolution which is really fantastic.  I have said again and again that Emma Hart does character development extremely well, and Always Remember lives up to that legacy.  It's a really fun book with tons of great character interaction and tension.

I liked the dynamic between Lexy, Jen, Bing and Alec being further explored.   It was really funny to be in Bing's head when he knew he was being a sap and who he compares himself to in those moments.  I also liked that even though Bing is a player, Emma characterized him in such a way that he didn't come off as a bad boy.  It was nice to read about a semi-normal group of people with very real and relatable issues.

I'm definitely sad to see this series wrap up.  I've become very partial to these characters that Emma Hart has created.  Her characters are vibrant, and people you feel like you could be friends with.  It also helps that they aren't bat-shit crazy like some characters out in the NA book world today.  Emma Hart has created a great series with lot's of heart and good feelings.

If you haven't started the memories series, start with book one.  It's a really great series and I highly recommend them!  For those of you who need this book now, lucky you it's out EARLY!

The Hazards of Skinny Dipping Review!

I'm so excited about this book everyone!  I really didn't know what to expect going into it because it's really different from what Alyssa Rose Ivy has written before, and me being the ultimate A.R.I. groupie have read everything.  I predict super big things to come with this books release and let me tell you why without giving anything away spoiler-wise or story-wise ;). 

This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.

Review:  So for those of you who don't know me, I'm in my last quarter of college and reading this book put me through all sorts of nostalgia.  Juliet is the main character of Hazards and I instantly loved her.  I liked her even though I didn't like some of the choices she made, but honestly I got why she made those choices.  It's all college man!  College is this land where people go and they realize I need to try all sorts of ridiculousness to make up for the fact that I won't be able to do stupid stuff intentionally later on down the road. 

I think one of the great talents that A.R.I. has as an author is to give us great characters.  I really liked who I was supposed to like, and really loathed who I wasn't supposed to like.  This is something that Alyssa has just mastered, she can give us great and rounded characters who just jump off the pages of the book.  Whenever I start a new book of hers it's like I'm being sucked into a vortex and then BAM, I'm actually in the story.  

The Hazards of Skinny Dipping is definitely a departure for Alyssa Rose Ivy.  I really am so excited to have been following her for so long, because each subsequent book she has put out has been better, and better, and I think Hazards is one of her best.  It will definitely fit in the NA genre that has been exploding with new authors lately, and the best part?  It's definitely not following any of the same story lines I have seen repeated over and over in NA lit.  Hazards is in it's own category. 

Oh and watch out.  There's a mother of all twists in this book.  Guys.  YOU. WON'T. SEE. IT. COMING.  This warning won't even prepare you, even though it's trying to.  My mouth dropped open when I got to it.  Literally.  Completely out of left field and smack you upside the head. 

To sum up my ecstatic feelings about this book, you guys need to check it out when it's released.  It's amazing.  Alyssa Rose Ivy has created something so awesome with The Hazards of Skinny Dipping, and one thing that always rings true in any book you pick by her, you ultimately always connect with what the main characters are learning throughout her books.   

Recommended for: Lover's of: NA Lit, strong heroines, ballsy heroines, swoon worthy guys, love triangles that aren't love triangles at all, and great stories where you don't see the twist coming.

Trick Review!

I'm so excited to talk about Trick!  Lori Garrett is someone you are going to WANT to watch out for, because her book had me absolutely hooked! A big thanks to Lori for gifting me the book to read!  

Review: Wowza.  This book was an intense ride.  Intro to Gunner, I immediately was pulled to him.  He was everything that an unapologetic bad boy needed to be.  If you like Travis Maddox, Braden, or Rule, you will absolutely love Gunner.  I generally liked Harlow.  I like that she does show growth in the book, and I did like how she made it clear that she thought Gunner was amazing.  I didn't like how she put up with her dad, but again I reiterate, she did some growing up during the book.  

One thing I must, must warn you about is this book is chalk full of steamy scenes.  There were a ton of hot scenes, which was unexpected. 

The plot is standard romance, but I like that there is no cheating in Trick. It makes me super happy that we've got a hero that proves his love by not doing something bat-shit crazy while still remaining true to his bad boy roots. 

Lori Garrett's debut Rule is solid and awesome.  I really enjoyed reading about Gunner and Harlow and will definitely be reading her next book.  Check it out and friend her on Facebook or email her for a chat!

Holding On Blog Tour!

For you Emma Hart fans out there, she just published her new novella Holding On which is a companion novella to Never Forget. 

Review:  I can't really call this a continuation of Never Forget, only because in Holding On we get to see viewpoints from: Jen, Lexy, Jen, and Bing.  So rather than a continuation Holding On was the foundation for the next book in the Memories series mainly revolving around Jen and Bing.  While I was pretty excited to read the book two in the series, Holding On has left me literally salivating for it.  I love, love, love Bing and Jen in Holding On.  Emma Hart is still holding true in creating some kick ace characters and for that I love her.   Hart gives each character an insanely distinct voice, making transitions noticeable and lively.  She brings an insecurity to Lexy and a brashness to Jen, making a nice balance of character traits to each character. 

The plot in Holding On was a nice segue from the calm of Summer experienced in Never Forget at Lilac Bay, to the craziness and uncertainty in the Big City. It was nice to see what Jen and Alec do as the fish out of water.   The relationships between the characters were further explored and strengthened.  Plus getting inside Bing's head was an extra treat, and setting up what is to come for Jen and Bing makes me absolutely NEED the next book. 

I'm usually not one for Novellas, as sometimes I feel like it's just unnecessary for the actual flow of a story, but I'm glad that Emma published this one.  I feel like it's not only a good look into what's going on with Lexy and Alec, but what is to come with Jen and Bing.  My only disappointment with this novella is that it's a novella.  I want more dang it! 

If you haven't picked up book one in the Memories series, do it!  It's a fun read that continues into Holding On. 

Recommended for lovers of: Young love, romance, characters that fight because they secretly love each other, happy endings.

Selling Scarlett Review!

Sorry everyone, I know it has been quite awhile since I've made an appearance on here.  A lot of my posts will be very sporadic up until June because I am in my last quarter of college, and somehow that makes my life became twenty times more hectic.  That's the bad news.  Good news is whatever I am posting on this site is stuff that I absolutely love and is near and dear to my heart.  Today I'm reacquainting you all with my girl Ella James and her new book Selling Scarlett.

Now, if you follow this site you will have seen multiple posts about Ella and her books on here.  I have definitely gone past the point of no return, and I am a full on fangirl now.  Now, with that said, I wasn't sure what to expect with Selling Scarlett, and to be frank, I was actually kind of nervous.  It sounded different from anything that Ella had done previously, which intrigued me, yet really made me wonder where this book was going.

I was flat out blown away by this book.  I have fallen into this rut of contemporary NA romance binging lately, and while Selling Scarlet definitely has romance, it has so much more too.

The cool thing about following an author since they have started publishing their works, is you get to see how much they grow.  This book is the departure for Ella James.  I couldn't be more excited for the level at which she has brought us to with Selling Scarlett.  The plot is fantastic.  I felt definitely at the edge of my seat for pretty much the whole last part of the book.  Elizabeth, the heroine who becomes Scarlett was mature, and very real.  Plus the whole concept of Selling Scarlett was really fantastic.  I was scared it was going to be oversexed, just based on the description.  While there is sex, (this one is definitely not YA folks!) it wasn't anything close to erotica.

Selling Scarlett came out of left field for me.  It had angst, but it also had real drama, and not just between characters.  I mean like this crazy suspense plot going down.  I think that Ella James definitely could write an intense suspense/action novel.  Just be fore-warned Selling Scarlett is not one of those mushy, lovey-dovey stories.  It's intense and gripping, and totally worth the ride.

I really can't wait to see what is up next from Ella James.  After reading Selling Scarlett, I think she raised the bar for herself!

Recommended for lovers of: suspense, action, bad boys, and hot romance.
