How I Review

I review using a scale of one to five.

Pretty much what those points consist of is:

1. Grammar.  It sucks, but it's the real world.  If the story is THAT good, I can overlook it.  If not...

2. Character Development.  This one is a really, really big one for me.  The plot can be mediocre, but if the characters of a novel make me feel things that I shouldn't be feeling since I am reading a book (aka anything resulting in almost tears/tears, unexplained anger, longing, heart palpitations).  This is something that can knock anywhere from one to two stars off of a book for me.  If I don't like the characters I can't get into the book.

3. Plot.  This one isn't as big of a deal for me, but you at least have to have something going on that interests the reader.   Also, consistency is the deciding factor in this one for me.   If everything makes sense and matches what I was told earlier in the book, then we're in business.

4.  Originality.  We live in a world of regurgitated ideas.  It excites me to no end when I finally get a book in my hands that is so original I can't help but shout it from the roof tops of Twitter and Facebook.  (Sorry if it hurts your ears).

5.  Message.  This one is my, "how do I feel now that I'm done with the book."  If I stare off into space dejected because the journey is over, that book is something that will haunt my steps and thoughts for the next few days, and will ultimately earn this point.

So calling everything points is kind of boring, and plus there are so many fun emoticons out there now a days that I am going to use the oh yeah guy.   He's cool and it's just fun to say you got this many oh yeahs!!   Oh look... Here he is:

5/5 OH YEAH I LOVED IT
4/5 Oh Yeah I liked it a lot!

3/5 Oh Yeah I liked it!
2/5 Didn't make me Oh Yeah!
1/5 Straight Up Oh No!
