My review for the soon to be released Dark Waltz by A.M. Hargrove:
At the start of this series we meet Liasare Davidson, who is related to a certain character we know from A.M.'s other Guardian books. I really like Liasare's character. She is someone with real depth and emotions, and her character continually grows throughout the book which I really admire. She isn't one to sit back and just take things which I really appreciate in any heroine. When she goes on a journey to ravaged Earth to look for her brother Tommy she takes on the name Liasare, (reasons as to why are revealed in the book!) she literally transforms into a new person.
Also, on her quest she runs into the ever awesome Jurek, who we met in Determinate. Honestly, when I started Determinate, I was determined to hate Jurek, but his sense of humor and loyalty won me over, and in this book I am his number one fan. The chemistry between these two characters is ridiculously off the charts hot. Their relationship is antagonistic and so much fun. But, I also felt like the relationship wasn't over idealized. There wasn't really a moment where these characters could mess around and just fall in love. There's kind of the whole Earth is going to the crapper thing going on around them. I think that's what helps make their story so explosive, tension of all sorts just builds up and ultimately explodes.
The plot of the story, I felt moved very fast. I felt like I had just sat down when I was torn from the world, only because I now have to wait for the next book. In her quest for her brother, Liasare stumbles upon a task that is much greater and grave than just finding her sibling. Jurek will ultimately need her for something much bigger than the fight for Earth. I don't want to give too much away since the book isn't out, but some big stuff goes down in this book. It is one you can't put down once you start, so make sure your schedule is cleared for the day! I think that this is a great debut in the adult world for Annie and really can't wait to see more from her in this series.
This was a very fun read, and something that will warm you right up (har-har)! Check back here for release dates, I only know that it will be published sometime this month. Lucky Dark Waltz is going to be the very first book that I am actually implementing my rating scale for!! (post about that to come later!)
