Here Review Part Deux

Sorry I haven't been super active lately.  I have been swamped with school and narrowly avoiding the dreaded plague that has been circulating, (load up on the vitamins and wash your hands people) so I haven't been reading or blogging much at all.

With that said, Ella James was supposed to be hanging out on the blog earlier this week with her new book Trapped in the Here trilogy.  But, some crazy and not fun stuff has been happening in Ella's life lately so I'm going to repost and smooth out my review of book one Here, well right here.

"Milo Mitchell's life used to be charmed, but that was before her family dissolved, she went a little crazy, and her best friends started acting more like strangers. Spending Saturday morning in a treehouse with a stun gun for company and a herd of deer for friends is the only exciting thing in her life...until she shoots a fawn and finds her dart stuck in a guy.

Her gorgeous victim is dressed in a Brioni tux and armed with a hanky. He has no idea who or where he is. Afraid her dart caused his amnesia, Milo takes him in, names him Nick, and vows to help him solve his mystery. Soon the pair find Nick's face in a newspaper obituary, and Nick begins to have strange, ethereal memories of Milo--who is sure she's never met him. Suddenly Nick knows things he shouldn't know and is doing things he shouldn't do. When the Department of Defense shows up, Nick and Milo run--toward a shocking conclusion that could destroy both their worlds."

Sounds awesome right?  That's because it is.  I love the whole aura of mystery throughout most of the book because it is this totally buildup to the big reveal, and then it is BAM tons of action!  I count myself as really lucky onto stumbling upon Ella's books when I first started blogging.  She has been super cool to get to know, and writes kick butt stories, and I think the "Here" trilogy is going to go down as one of my favorite series of all time.

The first reason why is because of Milo.  She was unique, normal, and while she carries around sorrow, she doesn't let it own her.  She is a strong character, and I LOVE that.  Plus she has friends, I feel like in a ton of paranormal books the female main character has to be this outsider that doesn't belong, and believe me I love a ton of those stories, I also happen to adore stories that break that pattern.   Even in the first few pages of the book I could see how strong and caring of a person Milo was.

Then we meet Nick.  Well, we meet passed out Nick because Milo went Rambo on him in the woods because she thought he was a fawn.  Weird, right?  Well it gets weirder.  Nick's got amnesia, Nick isn't really Nick's name, (hey I love those Gatsby throwbacks!) and Nick is supposed to be dead.  Really. Flippin. Weird.  But, this combination makes for a great storyline.

The plot is great, you think it's going one way, then hello something completely different and unexpected lands in front of you.  I must comment on the ending, whoooooa hello crazy plot twist!  I wish I could figure out how to put those crazy cartoons in my posts because my jaw was droppin' it real low.  I can't wait for Trapped to be here and to get to talk about it with you guys!! If you haven't picked up the any of Ella's books yet, please, please, please pick Here first.  It is so otherworldly good you will love it!
