Into The Deep Review

I have had a long standing love affair with Samantha Young.  Anything that she releases, I will buy.  Her books are literally crack, and the little teasers she releases on her site do not satisfy me.  I need the whole book, and I need it now.  When she released the first two chapters of Into The Deep, I thought to myself, "why oh why am I torturing myself with this tiny sliver of happiness?"  Luckily, I didn't have to wait too much longer to get the whole book to read.  Now, I'm stuck craving the next book in the series.  Dang you Samantha Young, this is all I can say...

Charley Redford was just an ordinary girl until Jake Caplin moved to her small town in Indiana and convinced her she was extraordinary. Almost from day one Jake pulled Charley into the deep and promised he was right there with her. But when a tragic incident darkened Jake’s life he waded out into the shallows and left Charley behind.

Almost four years later Charley thinks she’s moved on. That is until she takes a study year abroad in Edinburgh and bumps into none other than Jake Caplin at a party with his new girlfriend. The bad-boy-turned-good attempts to convince Charley to forgive him, and as her best friend starts spending time with Jake’s, Charley calls a truce, only to find herself tumbling back into a friendship with him.

As they grow closer, the spark between them flares and begins playing havoc with their lives and relationships. When jealousy and longing rear their destructive heads, Charley and Jake struggle to come to grips with what they mean to one another.

And even if they work it out, there is no guarantee Charley will ever trust Jake to lead her back into the deep…

Review:  Before I word vomit all over this page about how much I loved this book, let me address something.  Samantha Young is an author rockstar.  Every single time I sit down and read something by her, I know I am going to be captivated.  Into The Deep was no exception.

Charley's character was someone who resonated with me immensely.  She's closed herself off from trusting guys because of how much someone had hurt her in the past.  The someone was Jake Caplin.  Ohhh, Jake.  When we first meet Jake, I literally wanted Charley to punch him in the face.  While Jake doesn't know Charley is going to be in Edinburgh, how dare he be happy with another girl that's not Charley!  (See what I mean Samantha Young just pulls you into the story until you're thinking you're there alongside the characters waiting to wreak some havoc.)  But, I digress, needless to say Charley's and Jake's first reunion does not go smoothly at all.

Into The Deep is told through flashbacks and present happenings.  I liked that we got to know what happened to Charley and Jake, and why Charley is so heartbroken when we know her.  It's easy to see how what happened in the past could lead to the circumstance that are happening now.  I know that sounds cryptic, but I don't want to be a spoiler and ruins what happens in the book for you guys!

True to form, Samantha Young creates a wonderful group of characters.  They are rich in detail, and you really start to root for all the people in the background too.  Beck and Claudia were the Adam and Ellie of Into The Deep.  They are so meant to be together, but just can't get to where they are together.  Do I sense a possible book for them!?  I really, really hope so.  Claudia and Beck are characters that will just grab you.  Oh, and we can't forget Lowe.  Sweet, sweet, Lowe.  When you meet this guy, you'll swoon.  He's not only a great friend, but writes songs, is in a band, and just insanely wonderful.  Now, with every good, must come the bad.  Unfortunately in  this story that's Melissa, Jake's new girlfriend.  I hated her, yet felt sorry for her, but went right back to hating her.  Once you guys read it, you'll have to let me know what you thought about her, and if my hatred is just or not.

Into The Deep is an emotional journey, about two soul mates reuniting after their souls have been shattered.  Jake and Charley's journey in this book was riveting.  At parts my heart was palpitating because of what was happening in the pages.  I cannot tell you enough about how much I enjoyed reading Into The Deep.   It is another one for Samantha's record books, because this one will for sure please every reader and fan who put her at the top of the charts.   At this point I really just wish I lived in Samantha Young's head, or I'm her BFF because I need to know what's going to happen in the next book!

Pick up Into The Deep when it releases August 13th

5/5 OH YEAH I LOVED IT
